Ce premier chapitre est compos\u00e9 de 51 s\u016btra (aphorismes). L&rsquo;auteur y d\u00e9crit le yoga et ensuite les moyens d&rsquo;atteindre le sam\u0101dhi. Ce terme de sam\u0101dhi se r\u00e9f\u00e8re \u00e0 un <strong><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u00e9tat bienheureux<\/span><\/strong> o\u00f9 le yogin est absorb\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;unit\u00e9: union avec le dieu personnel (\u012a\u015bvara) ou absorption dans l&rsquo;absolu (brahman).<\/p>\n<p>Ce chapitre commence par: Atha yog\u0101nu\u015b\u0101sanam: \u00ab maintenant, l&rsquo;enseignement du yoga commence \u00bb, autrement dit <strong><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u00ab voici l&rsquo;enseignement traditionnel du yoga. \u00bb<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Puis d\u00e8s le deuxi\u00e8me aphorisme la d\u00e9finition du yoga est donn\u00e9e : yoga\u015b cittav\u1e5bttinirodha\u1e25. Litt\u00e9ralement: <strong><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u00ab Le yoga est l\u2019arr\u00eat des activit\u00e9s de la pens\u00e9e. \u00bb<\/span><\/strong> (citta v\u1e5btti, fluctuation du psychisme). En d&rsquo;autres termes : \u00ab le yoga consiste \u00e0 suspendre l&rsquo;activit\u00e9 psychique et mentale. \u00bb<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>L&rsquo;enseignement bas\u00e9 sur les Yoga s\u016btra de Pata\u00f1jali se nomme le <strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">yoga-dar\u015bana<\/span><\/strong>. Cette expression est compos\u00e9e de deux termes :<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #008080;\">Yoga<\/span><\/strong> ( \u092f\u094b\u0917 en devan\u0101gar\u012b) est un terme sanskrit qui d\u00e9signe un ensemble de pratiques visant la fusion du corps et de l&rsquo;esprit vers l&rsquo;unit\u00e9 et la paix int\u00e9rieure.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #008080;\">Dar\u015bana<\/span> <\/strong>( \u0926\u0930\u094d\u0936\u0928 en devan\u0101gar\u012b) ce terme sanskrit signifie vue, vision; aspect, en philosophie: m\u00e9thode, point de vue doctrinal, \u00e9cole de pens\u00e9e, syst\u00e8me philosophique, doctrine de salut.<br \/>\nDans la philosophie hindoue Il y a six dar\u015bana (\u00e9coles de pens\u00e9e ou point de vue) principaux. Le yoga est un de ceux-l\u00e0. Il est associ\u00e9 \u00e0 la philosophie samkhya.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Introduisant les Yoga Sutra, <strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">B.K.S. Iyengar<\/span><\/strong> dit <em>\u00ab Ses propos sont directs, originaux et traditionnellement consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme d\u2019inspiration divine. Plus de vingt si\u00e8cles plus tard, ils sont toujours actuels, fascinants, universels et complets. Ils le resteront sans doute pour les si\u00e8cles \u00e0 venir. En 196 aphorismes, ou sutras, il traite de tous les aspects de l\u2019existence, commen\u00e7ant par un code de conduite \u00e9thique pour finir par la vision de notre v\u00e9ritable nature. Chaque terme des sutras est d\u2019une extr\u00eame concision et pr\u00e9cision; charg\u00e9 de sens.
